Fred Brown's Obituary
Fred Benjamin Brown, Jr., 91 of Huntersville, NC, relocated to his eternal home on Saturday, January 21, 2023. He was born on July 19, 1931, in Charlotte, NC, to the late Fred and Hattie Brown.
Fred graduated from Long Creek School in 1949 where he was in the top ten of his class. On March 3, 1951, he married his first grade sweetheart, Betty Fink.
Fred was a faithful member of Williams Memorial Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, NC. He was a member of the Mary Nash Sunday School Class and played on the church softball team. He served the church as a deacon for many years. Always staying active he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and most of all spending time with his family and friends.
His first job was with Godley Tractor Company and then he was a dedicated employee for 39 years with Southern Bell. He was a humble jack-of-all trades and always up to the task at hand.
Upon his retirement he faithfully served his family, friends and anyone in need. He was loved by all and had many loyal friends with whom he enjoyed life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Judy McGinn and Myrtle (Myra) Looper. He is survived by his bride of 71 years, Betty; their children, Eric Brown (Karen), Mike Brown (Jeannie), and Linda St Pierre (DK); grandchildren Eddie (Kristin), Ashley Schneidau (Tim) OK, Kevin (Kristina), Ryan (Jessica) and twelve 12 Great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Karen, Pam, Kim, Sharon, and Fred’s Hospice nurses for the loving care they provided to him in his preparation for his eternal home.
Celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at 11:00am at Williams Memorial Presbyterian Church, 4700 Beatties Ford Road, Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00am – 11:00am. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Samaritans Purse, 801 Bamboo Road, P O Box 3000 Boone, NC 28607.
