Freda Huffstetler's Obituary
Mrs. Freda Huffstetler, 81, of Charlotte, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2013, at her home following a battle with cancer.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 17 at 2 pm at Sugaw Creek Presbyterian Church, 101 Sugar Creek Road West, Charlotte, with Rev. Dr. William Ralston and Rev. Eulando Henton officiating. The family will be receiving friends in the churchʼs fellowship hall following the service.
Freda was born in Waxhaw on September 15, 1931, the only child of L. Lamar Ford and Thelma Hood Ford. She attended Tech High School before graduating from Central High School in 1949, as well as Kingʼs Business College in 1950. She retired from UNC-Charlotte in 1996 after working as an administrative assistant for 31 years. (Education Department, English Department, and College of Arts & Sciences respectively.)
She is preceded in death by her parents, Thelma and Lamar Ford, and survived by her husband of 61 years, Charles H. Huffstetler, Jr.; son, Chuck and his wife Elissa of Huntersville: daughter, Jane Hedrick and her husband, Brooks of Asheboro; daughter,
Beth Myers and her husband, Sammy of Charlotte; son, Mark of Charleston, SC and his partner, Nick; 6 grandchildren;
2 step grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.
