Game, set and match as Fred said shortly before he passed. Lake Norman tennis community lost one of its finest with the passing of Fred. It was truly a pleasure to have known and shared the courts with Fred for the 17 years we played USTA league tennis together. I will cherish the memories. In all those years, I never met anyone who had anything but kind words to say about Fred. He was the consummate gentleman, on and off the court. My condolences and prayers go out to his lovely and caring family. Rest in peace, Fred.

Fred was a true gentleman and an awesome tennis player. I was lucky enough to be his doubles partner the last season he played before his health issues. We were undefeated thanks to his strong play and on court coaching. What a fun time that was, He is sorely missed by his many tennis friends. Condolences to his fine family. Hank Walters

I remember Fred from playing singles tennis with him weekly at Jetton Park for about 3 years. Not infrequently, passersby would stop ant tell Fred how much they enjoyed watching him play. He was always a gentleman and well liked by everyone who knew him because of that. He will be missed by many!
