Frederick Tildon Baldwin Sr.'s Obituary
Frederick Tildon Baldwin, Sr. (Fred), of Mooresville, went to his heavenly home on July 3, 2022 at S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville, NC. He was 86 years young. Fred was born on November 14, 1935 in Bluefield, WV to Howard and Gladys Baldwin. He joined the US Army after high school where he served his country for nearly three years. It was during his service that he met the love of his life, Marion, on a dinner cruise on the Potomac River in Washington, D.C. He asked her to dance and “they have been dancing ever since…” They wrote letters for two years while Fred was stationed in Germany. He proposed in one of his letters which included an engagement ring. After only seeing each other 2-3 times, they were married on February 28, 1959 in Danville, VA. They were married for over 63 years. Their life together began in Charlotte, NC, and later moved to Mooresville, NC to raise their family.
At the age of 41, Fred wanted to go into business for himself and in January 1977, he started a company that would later become Baldwin Professional Equipment, Inc. He was a hardworking man who enjoyed being outside whether he was camping, traveling, growing something in a garden or “tinkering” on whatever the project was for that day. He was involved in the church as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, Bus Ministry driver, youth worker, Awana ministry and served on various committees. He also shared his love of music with his family and with others as he played mandolin and guitar in various bands. Fred was a humble man with such a calm gentle spirit. He is known for his amazing bear hugs by family and friends alike. He served his God, his family and his country well.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an older brother, Bill Baldwin, sister in law, Mary Baldwin, older sister, Ruth Emma, and granddaughter, Shana J. Baldwin Taylor.
