Gary Lamar Barrett's Obituary
Gary Lamar Barrett, 70, a native of Cornelius, NC passed away September 1, 2011 at his home. He was born on January 31, 1941 in Mecklenburg County to the late Everette (Shorty) and Margaret Sims Barrett.
He leaves to cherish his memories of being a loving and wonderful husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather, his wife Brenda K. Barrett; son, Jeff Barrett; daughter, Deanna Barrett-Nichols and husband Brian, all of Cornelius; sister Gail Blythe and husband Eddie of Denver; grandchildren, Brandy Barrett, Jennifer, Jake and Katie Parker, and Josh Ray; great-grandchildren, Braxton and Blake Maxwell; brother-in-law, Bud Karriker and Carol Cribb, sister-in-law, Peggy Gibbs and Herman Huffman and Faye B. Robbins; lifelong friend John Blakely; many nieces and nephews and uncles Robert and Don Sims. He is preceded in death by his brother Charles M. Barrett and brother-in-law Richard Gibbs.

Memorials may be made to the Cornelius Baptist Church, the Cornelius Animal Shelter or the charity of your choice.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 Sunday, September 4, 2011 at Cornelius Baptist Church with Rev. J.E. Wayland, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be from 2-3 the hour prior at the church. Burial will be private at a later date.
