Gay Freeman's Obituary
M. Gaynell Ward Freeman, 92, died on Tuesday, March 22, 2022. She was born on August 25, 1929, in Charleston, SC.
Gay worked as an Executive Assistant throughout her career. She was an accomplished piano teacher, organist and choir director. Her hobbies included hiking and camping in the mountains of Colorado and traveling here in the states and abroad. Gay loved the outdoors, especially when she could share that joy in the company of her family. She loved reading all kinds of books, teaching from the Bible, playing the piano, organ and singing.
Gay lived a life of passion and purpose. Her uplifting spirit was an inspiration to her family, friends and community in church. Gay had a deep love of family and was a source of compassion and encouragement to those around her. Gay believed in the difference one person could make and was never afraid to take action. She was always ready to get up and dance and her joyfulness was contagious.
She was married to Marion Freeman for 62 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and valued spending time with all her family.
She will be greatly missed and is survived by her daughter and son in law, 1 granddaughter Kathryn Dencklau; 3 great grandchildren - Annaliese, Weylin and Ian; 2 brothers - Beverly and Robert Ward.
Gay would tell all of us, "I am in the hand of God and have peace. No one need mourn for me."
