George and I spent many hours and days together during our formative years in Salisbury, NC. As members of Haven Lutheran Church we were active in many aspects of youth activities along with Boy Scouts. We shared many camping trips that provide lasting memories. George and I worked together to earn our Pro Deo et Patria award which we both valued then and now.
I can’t remember which golf tournament, but George hit a horrible drive off a tee box (not sure if adult beverages were involved). It ricocheted off several trees and landed in the bed of a pickup truck beside the tees. We all laughed but George laughed the hardest.
