George Jenkins,'s Obituary
George Jenkins Jr. went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 18, 2018. George was born on September 28, 1960, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Dorothy and the late George Jenkins Sr.
George grew up in Christian Union Church and Faith Fellowship Baptist Church. He accepted Christ to be his Lord and Savior at a young age at Christian Union Church. George was baptized by the pastor at the time, Pastor Bervine, along with his father, Deacon George Jenkins.
He graduated from Martin Luther King High School in Philadelphia and went on to study Business and Marketing at Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania where he earned his Bachelor’s degree.
As a young man, he ventured south and relocated to Charlotte, NC. There, he met his loving wife, Latosha Ann Jenkins, who already shared his last name; so, it was meant to be. George and “Tosha” have five beautiful children. He was truly a dedicated family man.
He had an intense love for sports and was an unwavering Phillies and Eagles fan. This year he was able to see the Eagles win their first Super Bowl championship. He came from a musical family and played the trumpet.
George was preceded in death by his father George Jenkins, Sr. George is survived by his wife, Latosha of 18 years; his children: Inez-Christina, Dorothy-Elise, George Jr III, twins, Christian-Hope and Christian-Grace; his mother, Dorothy Jenkins; his sisters, Marlene, Cheryl, Laverne (married to Nathan) and Lynnel, of Philadelphia, PA, his godmother, Diana Byrd, a host nieces and nephews and extended family.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, June 22, 2018, in the Chapel of James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078. Pastor Gwen Taylor Monroe will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to an Education Fund for the Jenkins children. 16521 Spruell Street, Huntersville, NC 28078.
