George Klopp's Obituary
George Edward Klopp, 71, of Charlotte, passed away Monday, June 25, 2018.
George was a native of Connersville, IN, the son of Robert James and Mary Ann Reeder Klopp. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Bob, David, Bill, and a sister, Carol.
Mr. Klopp was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving Search and Rescue on the USS Lexington during the Vietnam War. He was retired from IBM with 34 years of service.
George enjoyed many activities including motorcycles, scuba diving, travel, camping, bowling, kayaking, and his favorite for eleven years was dancing, both square dancing and ball room dancing.
Mr. Klopp is survived by his wife of 47 years, Doris Jean Klopp, daughter, Lisa Lone, sons; Robert James Klopp and wife, Autumn, Jeffrey Alan Klopp and wife, Charlotte, brother, Gary Klopp and wife, Katie, sister, Linda Turner and husband, Winfred, grandchildren; Brandon, Lauren, James, Sam, Isaac, Emma, Hannah, great-grandchildren; Taylor and Jase, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care, 7845 Little Ave., Charlotte, NC 28226 and to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2018 at James Funeral Home of Huntersville with Rev. Ronnie Parrott officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home Community Room.
