Gerald Luther Bennett's Obituary
Gerald Luther Bennett, 92, of Charlotte, NC., passed away on November 17, 2015 at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House.
He was born in Whitmer, WV on September 3, 1923 to Grant and Bessie Bennett and later the family moved to Ohio.
Gerald served in WWII in Germany for 3 years. After discharge, he went to work for Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Akron, OH and retired after 41 years, relocating to Winston-Salem. Gerald was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem and served as an usher for many years. He also volunteered at Baptist Hospital for many years.
He is preceded in death by his first wife Myrtle Bennett and several siblings.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife Lois Gabor Bennett; sons John Bennett (Macedonia, OH) and Jerry Bennett (Traphill, NC); daughter, Cheryl Bennett (Denver, CO); stepdaughter and caregiver Bonnie Morgan (Charlotte, NC); step-son James Gabor (Santa Clarita, CA) 5 brothers; 1 sister and many nieces nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in Charlotte and Winston at a later date. His interment will be private at Crown Hill Cemetery in OH. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
