Geraldine Marie Chismar's Obituary
Ms. Geraldine Chismar, of Charlotte, NC passed away at home Monday, October 24, 2022, with her children holding her hands. She was 80 years old.
“Jeri” was originally from Youngstown, Ohio and graduated from St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing in 1963. She spent most of her adult life in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida caring for others as a nurse. She owned her own nursing business called “Joy” Nursing Services: Jesus, Others and Yourself, and she lived her life focused on those principles. Affectionately known as “Nana” by her kids and grandkids, Jeri liked fast cars, Josh Groban (she called him her boyfriend), was always smiling and had the most infectious laugh. She retired to North Carolina in 2006. And fall was her favorite season!
Jeri was preceded in death by her parents, Steven and Mary Chismar. She is survived by her children Jessica Davis (Ben) of Huntersville, NC, Eric Smith (Jacqueline) of Coral Springs, FL, grandchildren; Kyra, Emily, John, Emma, Aubree, and Preston; sister, Rosalie Buday of Youngstown, OH; brother Roy Chismar (Donna) of Sevierville, TN and her loving nieces.
A private ceremony will be held by her immediate family members. Jeri did not want people to mourn her death but celebrate her arrival into heaven. She would like her friends and family to put on some gospel music and dance!! The family asks that Jeri be remembered by living her principles of “JOY”: Jesus, Others and Yourself.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gracious Living Adult Day & Healthcare Center, 16630-A Northcross Dr, Huntersville, NC 28078, where Jeri received the most loving care daily.
