We knew Geri at church. She had an infectious laugh, and would always give us a hug. She loved Nieves and me. She told us not to forget that this is where we belonged. Will always miss her, and hope to see her on the other side.

What can I possibly say to show what this force of nature meant to me and so many others growing up in Davidson during the fifties and sixties? It was always so soothing to be in the little building on the southern end of Main Street, welcomed by Miss Geri, who then never let us leave without a book in hand. She kept us reading. During the summer months, we had our buff colored reading cards, which she then stamped as we completed each one. As a few years slipped by, she would recommend to us those adult books she loved. She kept us reading. Later, as a library employee, I always valued her co-worker input. Thank you, Geri, for all the gifts you shared with Cornelius and Davidson over the years. You kept us reading...and you are missed.
Gerri had the most infectious laugh and an energetic sense of humor to match. I remember her answering machine “fromTara” announcing we’d all be “pea green with envy” when we found out what she was doing instead of answering our telephone call. A great lady is now in Heaven chatting with real life Civil War ladies and famous authors. God Bless and prayers for the family.
I have known Gerri my entire adult life, we were neighbors, for many years. Church friends and also good friends. Gerri and I always joked around.
RIP Gerri
Mike and Randy, I am so sorry to hear that you have lost Gerri. She was a wonderful friend to my mom, Jessie McCall. They shared many activities around Cornelius, whether it was church, garden club, school, library or town business. The two of them were always busy! Some of my very first memories were the Christmas plays and Easter Egg hunts with Gerri in the lead organizing the festivities at Cornelius Baptist Church. Also, I always enjoyed our conversations when our paths crossed in the neighborhood. She was special and will be missed so much.
Gosh, I loved this woman. She was so much fun. We travelled a lot and always had a good time. She was so interested in life and was up for anything fun I will miss her. Phyllis
so sorry for the loss of Gerri. I've gone to church with her for years and have admired her lawn/landscaping/decorations while driving by her home. She was also my neighbor and I will miss her.
Prayers for y'all
