Glenn Ferrell's Obituary
Glenn Wallace Ferrell, 87, of Cornelius died July 15, 2018 at his home. He was born on February 15, 1931 in Mecklenburg County to the late Glenwood and Ileen Ferrell. Glenn joined the US Navy Reserves after High School and was called to active duty on the USS Block Island from 1951-53 Glenn retired from BellSouth after 36 years of service. He was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church for 45 years, where he served as a deacon. He was a devoted husband and loving father that will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Barbara Hunter Ferrell; sons, Glenn W. Ferrell Jr. (Brenda) of Spanish Fort, AL and Jeffrey H. Ferrell of Charlotte; sisters, Audrey McKenzie and Glenda Sustar; grandchildren, Jennifer Cherry (Andrew), Glenn Ferrell, III “Tripp” (Brittany) and Andrew Ferrell; and great-grandchildren, Reese, Ben, Sam, and Glenn, IV. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Richard and Ralph Ferrell and his sister, Merle Ferrell.
Memorials may be made to Bethel Presbyterian Church, 19920 Bethel Church Rd. Cornelius, NC 28031.
The funeral service will be held at 2 PM Friday, July 20 at Bethel Presbyterian Church with Rev. Tom Boone officiating. Visitation will be 1-2 PM Prior in the Family Life Center. Burial with honors will follow in the church cemetery.
