Grace Oehler's Obituary
Grace Ann Blanton Oehler, age 80 of Charlotte died February 18, 2021. She was born on August 22, 1940 in Cabarrus County to the late Eliger “Sarge” and Melba Dare Bullard Blanton.
Survivors include her husband Tommy Oehler, daughter Lee Ann Oehler and wife Lynn Davidson, brother Dr. William E. "Bill" Blanton, daughter-in-law, Lisa Oehler, and grandson Miles Oehler. She is preceded in death by her son Thomas Frank Oehler, II "Chip" and siblings, George W. Blanton and Melba B. Clement.
Mrs. Oehler graduated from Concord High School in 1958. She was recognized as a local beauty and won many pageants including Miss Concord in 1959. She attended Wingate College where she met her future husband, Tommy Oehler, who gave her a surreptitious wink while waiting in line in the cafeteria. They married in 1961. Mrs. Oehler attained her B.S. degree in nursing from UNC-Charlotte in 1982 and served as a registered nurse at Charlotte Memorial Hospital, Wesley Nursing Center, and the public-school system.
Mrs. Oehler was active as a Girl Scout leader, cheerleader coach, 4-H leader, and many various activities at Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church. She was very artistic and creative, and spent many hours decorating for various church functions. She is fondly remembered for creating the famous “Mallard Creek Church BBQ Pig.”

Visitation will be 5-7 PM Monday, February 22 at James Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held at 3 PM Tuesday, February 23 at Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church (Please meet across the street at the church to walk over together at 2:50PM). Reverend Robert Watkins will be officiating.
