Greg Frye's Obituary
Gregory (Greg) Henry Frye of Huntersville, NC passed away after a brief illness on July 4, 2022 at Novant Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina. Greg was born in Fairmont , West Virginia on December 1, 1949 to the late Henry Nathaniel and Anna Mary Frye.
After graduating from Fairmont Senior High (1967) and West Virginia University (1973) with a Bachelor of Science in Business in Marketing and Management, Greg met his loving wife Rita Carol Bachtel Frye. They shared 48 years of a loving marriage and were parents to their sons Gregory Casey Frye of Huntersville, NC and Blake Austin Frye ( Amanda) of Charlotte , NC and their grandson Chace Miller Frye of Denver , NC.
Greg worked his entire 40 year career in the industrial plastics industry as a sales and business development professional . His career began in Leominster, Massachusetts with Borden Chemical (5 years ), BF Goodrich and the GEON Company (19 years) as the southeast national accounts manager, and regional south east manager with Rimtech Corporation ( Division of Ryken Polymers - Japan (10 years ). Greg was always a corporate team player with his sales clients creating lifelong relationships throughout the U.S.
The overriding theme in Greg’s life has been teamwork. He participated in youth sports , high school basketball and college basketball at West Virginia University. His strongest memories were his fellow teammates in every respect.
Greg was a loyal West Virginia University Mountaineer fan attending football games for six decades with his parents, brother, wife and sons, and his lifelong friends.
Greg thoroughly enjoyed reading, playing golf and traveling.
Greg’s priorities throughout his life were his family, lifelong friendships, his Christian faith, and his service on various church ministries. These ministries included Bread of Life, clothing drives to the Fairmont Soup Opera, and a church greeter.
Greg is survived by his wife Rita of Huntersville, NC, sons Gregory Casey Frye of Huntersville, NC , Blake Austin Frye (Amanda) of Charlotte, NC, his grandson Chace Miller Frye of Denver , NC; and his brother Ronald Nathaniel Frye (Mark) of Freeport , Maine and his loving dog Yogi of 14 years.
In addition Greg is survived by his sister-in-law Joyce Asbury (Glen) of Huntington , WV, his special cousins Patricia King (Scott) of Morgantown , WV, Linda Watson (CB) of Rancho Mission Vieja , California, and Betty Cunningham of Bridgeport, West Virginia.
A memorial service will be held on July 12 at Ross Funeral Home Fairmont , WV at 11:30 am with Reverend Larry Buckland officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30am to 11:30am.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place July 15 at 4pm at Lake Norman Baptist Church , Huntersville, NC 28078.
Greg’s ashes will be interred at a private family service.
