Gregory Park's Obituary
Gregory David Park, 60, of Davidson, NC, beloved husband, son, brother and friend, passed away April 14, 2017 in Charlotte, North Carolina surrounded by loving, close friends. He was born April 8, 1957 to David and Virginia Park in Salt Lake City, Utah, the oldest of three children. He grew up in the Sugar House area of Salt Lake City, graduated from Highland High School and earned a Bachelors and Masters of Accountancy from the University of Utah. Greg was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He married the love of his life, Nikki Knight in 1988 in Salt Lake City, later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They went on to follow their dream of moving to North Carolina where they both had successful careers, built their dream home in Davidson that they shared with their beloved dog Chester, and where they were surrounded by a loving NASCAR community and a wonderful church family. Greg worked in finance his whole career including as an accountant with Authur Andersen, and Peat Marwick Main; controller for Human Affairs International, Rental Service Corporation, and Action Performance Companies; and as CFO for MB2/MBV Motorsports, Evernham Motorsports, and Stewart-Haas Racing. Not many get their dream job and he worked at both dreams of finance and racing at the same time. The family wishes to express gratitude to Kathy, his Carolina mom, a loving church family, and many close friends and co-workers, for all your love and support over the years.
Greg is proceeded in death by his parents and wife. He is survived by his two sisters, Wendy (Paul) Stoddard, and Kari (Allen) Braithwaite, numerous nieces and nephews, father-in-law, Hal Knight and Nikki’s extended family.
A viewing will be held at the James Funeral Home in Huntersville on Monday, April 24, from 5-8 PM. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on April 25, 2017 in the Cornelius Ward LDS Chapel, 148 Lazy Ln, Mooresville, NC. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Salt Lake City, Utah.
