Harriet Moen's Obituary
Harriet Ann Moen died on August 1 in Cornelius, North Carolina. She was 80 years old. A memorial service will be held for her this Saturday in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, where she lived for over two decades.
Harriet was born on December 17, 1933 in Yonkers, New York to Ralph and Margaret Quinn Bailey. There, she grew up with three sisters: Virgina Malone, Myrene Kelly and Evelyn Gower. She married Harry Moen in 1953 and they remained together for 41 years until his death. They had six children: Bill Moen, Kris Maletsky, Laura Mulvihill, Tom Moen, Brian Moen and Katie Miller.
Harriet had a sharp mind for puzzles and enjoyed reading. She met life’s challenges with resolve, taking great pride in adapting to the needs of her large family. In her later years, she found particular joy in the triumphs of her grandchildren, who she referred to as her “special angels.”
She is survived by her sisters Myrene and Evelyn, all six children, fifteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her memorial service will start at 11 a.m. this Saturday, August 9 at St. Mary’s Church (17 Pompton Ave., Pompton Lakes). James Funeral Home of Huntersville is serving the family and condolences may be made at www. jamesfuneralhomeLKN.com.
