Harriett Gant's Obituary
AIKEN, SC – Harriett Henderson Gant, age 85, passed away September 21, 2022.
Harriet was born May 27, 1937, in Huntersville, NC to the late William Franklin Henderson and the late Lola Sherrill Henderson. Harriet was a longtime resident of Huntersville before moving to Statesville, NC from 2005-2021. She moved to Aiken, SC in 2021 to be closer to her daughter, Julie. Harriett enjoyed flower gardening and loved her flowers. She had a strong faith and love for music. She also enjoyed cooking and serving her family. She made sure everyone was well feed! She loved having her large and loud family around her at every opportunity.
Surviving are her husband, Dewey Spencer Gant Jr., Aiken, SC; children, Dewey Spencer Gant III “Trey” (Kathy), Clarksville, TN, Brenda Helms, Statesville, NC, Julie Cooper (David), Aiken, SC, and Henry Brian Gant “Hank”, Kannapolis, NC; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Munnerlyn (Lawrence); and a brother, Robert Henderson (Dru).
The family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 30, 2022, at Calvary Baptist Church, 2727 Mt. Holly-Huntersville Rd., Charlotte, NC, 28214, with the funeral service following at 12:00 p.m. at the church. Pastor Jack Homesley will officiate. Interment will follow in Huntersville First Baptist Church Cemetery, Huntersville, NC.
Memorial contributions may be made to Kindred Hospice, 5200 Woodside Executive Court, Aiken, SC 29803, for the exceptional care shown to Mrs. Gant or to The United Leukodystrophy Foundation, 224 N. 2nd St, # 2, DeKalb, IL 60115, in honor of Mrs. Harriett's great-granddaughter, Carlee Dearing.
