Hazel Dunn's Obituary
Mrs. Hazel Kidd Dunn, 102, of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully at her home on March 6, 2023 and is now resting in the arms of Jesus. She radiated beauty from the inside out and was an inspiration to all whose lives she touched.
Hazel was born on June 17, 1920 in Mecklenburg County to the late Chester W. and Bonnie Wilson Kidd. She was a lifelong member of Cook’s Memorial Presbyterian Church where at the time of her death was the oldest member. After 25 years she retired as Cook’s church secretary. She was a member of the Adult Bible Class and received the Honorary Life Membership by Cook’s Women of the Church.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Wilton A. Dunn; daughter, Peggy Dunn Byers; brothers C. W. Kidd, Jr and Brevard Kidd; sisters Mary Neal Pangle and Sara Sharar; sons-in-law Mike Elliotte and Jerry McKee and step grandchildren Deitz and Rebecca Elliotte.
Survivors include daughters Carolyn Elliotte, Joyce Norris (Frank) and Kathy McKee; son-in-law Jack Byers; grandchildren Lisa Dean (Bryan), Pamela Kramer, Lori Hudson, Nick McKee (Wendy) and Justin McKee (Allison); 15 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren plus one due in June.
A service to celebrate Hazel’s life will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, March 12 at Cook’s Memorial Presbyterian Church with Pastor Jason Bryant officiating. The family will receive friends in the church’s Fellowship Hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cook’s Memorial Presbyterian Church, 3413 Mt.
