Heather Cleevely's Obituary
Heather Joy Cleevely was born on October 30, 1970, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Woodland Hills High School in 1988. She received a full scholarship to the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where she was an accomplished diver. She was an All-American college athlete in 1990, 1991, and 1992. In 1990, she became the first diver at the University of North Carolina to ever qualify for the National Collegiate Athletic Association Championship. Heather went on to win the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship in 1992. That same year, she was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Diver of the Year. Her athletic accomplishments landed her a spot in the University of North Carolina Swimming and Diving Circle of Champions in 2011. Heather later attended the Art Institute of Atlanta and became a successful graphic designer and product marketing specialist, eventually owning her own marketing company.
Heather is survived by the love of her life, Bill Meek; Bill’s son, Matthew; her adoring parents, Bruce and Connie; her sister, Gretchen; her goddaughter, Anna; her rambunctious cats, Morgan Freeman and BB; and her many, many, dear friends.
She loved Jesus, Bill’s cooking, the rain, the lake, bubbles, the Steelers and the Penguins, giving advice, horror movies, the Grateful Dead, art, organizing (and re-organizing), and documenting all of the humorous things her family did. She had a huge heart, amazing creativity, a great, dark sense of humor, and the capacity to love like no other.
“In one of those stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing. And so it will be if all the stars were laughing, when you look at the stars at night. And when your sorrow is comforted (time soothes all sorrows) you will be content that you have known me. You will always be my friend . . . I shall not leave you.” - Antoine de Saint-Exupery, The Little Prince
