Helen Lois Gant's Obituary
Helen Lois Lancaster Gant, 80 of Huntersville died March 12, 2020. She was born in Rutherford County to the late William Jesse Lancaster and Stella Mathaney Lancaster.
Survivors include her son, Paul Richard Gant of Huntersville; daughter, Sherrie Freeman and husband Alan of Huntersville; sisters, Nell Bowles and Julia Williams; grandchildren, Bobby and wife Sarah and Stella (Marie) and husband Josh; and great-grandchildren, Aaryn, Caleb, Michael and Abigail. Her husband Paul L. Gant preceded her in death.
She was a talented musician whom was gifted with the ability to play piano by ear. When she was just three years of age she began playing piano and didn't stop even in rehabilitation months before she passed away. She touched many lives through music while volunteering to play in nursing homes, churches as their pianist and through various other venues. She passed her musical passion on to her family just as her musical abilities were passed on to her from her father, Jesse Lancaster. Her daughter, granddaughter and grandson all serve as music ministers and use their musical talents to glorify God just as she did throughout her entire life.
In addition to music, she helped support her daughter by being the receptionist for several of Sherrie's salons. She enjoyed assisting with scheduling appointments but mainly loved interacting with every customer! Customers quickly became known and treated as family. She was also sociable and genuinely cared about others. She even helped her son, Rick, with his farm fresh egg business. Rick's business started growing and she didn't hesitate to step up and help him any way she could. She also made connections with all the customers that came to the house to buy eggs.
She was a very unique and special woman. A woman of faith, determination, endurance, and optimism. Everyday was a new day to make a difference and to focus on the blessings that God had given her and her family. She will be very missed by her family, and friends! She lived the motto, "One Day At A Time".
Memorials may be made to Gideon’s International.
