Henry Jurney's Obituary
Henry Clay Jurney, DDS, of Charlotte, formerly of Huntersville, died March 31, 2016, at his home in Charlotte after a lengthy illness. Born September 11, 1929, in Harmony, Iredell County, NC, he was the son of William Reeves Jurney and Mary Jane Powell Jurney.
Dr. Jurney graduated from Elkin High School and Catawba College and served in the US Air Force. He was a 1962 graduate of the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Dentistry. He opened a dental practice in Huntersville and practiced dentistry there for 43 years. He was a life member of the North Carolina Dental Society and the American Dental Association.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jane Pate Jurney; son Henry Clay Jurney Jr. and friend Elisabeth Wert; son Phillip Reeves Jurney and wife Martha; son Robert Pate Jurney and wife Stephanie; and grandchildren Taylor, Rachel, Olivia, and Andrew Jurney. He is also survived by a sister, Lucy Gray Jurney Kreml. He was predeceased by a daughter, Melissa Jane Jurney.
A graveside memorial service will take place at First Baptist Church cemetery in Huntersville on Saturday, April 9 2016, at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Bob Stillerman and the Reverend Tillie Duncan officiating. Visitation will immediately follow the service.
