Herbert Thomas Sr.'s Obituary
Herbert Hoover Thomas, Sr., 92, went home to be with the Lord Monday, September 6, 2021.
He was born December 9, 1928, in Abingdon Virginia. Herb served in the Army and Air Force as a Master Sergeant for both branches. He was a godly man who loved Jesus, family, friends, his music, and John Wayne. He was the leader of the Beacons, a Blue-Grass Gospel group, for 39 years. Herb played music all around the world while serving his country. Herb worked for McCall Bros Well Drilling for 25 Years before going into business with Reid Daniels. They started Poquoson Construction Co. where he worked until He retired at the age Of 67. He was a well Loved Christian Man.
Herb was preceded in death by his parents, John Will Thomas and Gussie Mae Flanoy. 1 daughter, Betty Jo Belk. 5 brothers; Robert, Roscoe, Clarence, JP and Alvin. 3 sisters, Juanita (Pon), Lucile and Betty Lois.
Herb is survived by his wife of 48 years, Louise Hald Thomas. 1 Sister, Louise Wyatt. 2 Sons; Herb Thomas Jr. and wife Freddie, Roy Moritz and wife Bobbie. 4 daughters; Lois Greer, Donna Lemmons, Diane Mohamed and Dawn Hestikind. Herb is also survived by 9 grandsons; Scotty, Chris, Travis, Jaisen, Andrew, Brian, Josh, JD and Amir. 6 granddaughters; Misty, Asha, Brandy, Amanda, Corey and Layla. 29 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

Services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church 2727 Mt Holly/ Huntersville Rd. Charlotte NC 28214 Saturday Sept 11th. Visitation At 1:00 PM. Celebration of life at 2:00 PM.
