Hubert P. Maples Jr.'s Obituary
Hubert P. Maples, Jr. 77 of Concord died January 29, 2022 at Five Oaks Manor. He was born on December 16, 1944 in Hamlet, NC to the late Hubert and Lucille Maples. He served in the US Army. He worked for CSX Railroad for 41 years. Hubert grew up playing and excelling in many sports and played for the North Carolina state baseball team as a catcher where he earned his nick name “Yogi”. The only thing he was better at than sports was being a loving and supportive husband and father.
Survivors include his sons, Peter Griffin (Carmen) and Jason Griffin (Kelly); daughter, Lindsay Canupp (Chris); siblings, Kenneth and Amy; as well as 4 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Judy; and siblings, Brenda and Delores.
Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove UMC.
The funeral service will be held at Pleasant Grove UMC at 4 PM Friday, February 4. Visitation will be 1 hour prior. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
