Ida "Sandy" McCall's Obituary
Mrs. Ida “Sandy” Medlin McCall passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2022.
She was born in Union County March 2, 1924, the daughter of Hessie Clark Medlin and William Robert Medlin. She was predeceased by her siblings Ruth Horne, Bruce Medlin, Leo Medlin, Betty Horne, Nell Harrington, Dorothy Wilkes, and June Baucom.
In 1945 she married Henry McCall who passed away in 1975. Their son, Charles J. McCall, a loving and devoted caregiver of the last few years, survives her. Also surviving with a special connection are her nephew Phillip Horne and his twins Lisa and Gary, her niece Gerri Kessel and her daughters Tracy and Nicole and son Chuck (wife Katrina) and their families. Extended family includes a number of loving nieces and nephews along with three half-brothers and two half-sisters. Notable recognition goes to Myke Griffeth, a loyal friend who brought joy to Sandy’s final years.
Sandy was a decades long member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Always eager to be active and involved, she enjoyed memberships in her local DAR chapter, garden club, and bridge clubs. For 52 years, she was a volunteer at Hunter Oaks nursing home, often providing care and comfort to those considerably younger. Prior to mobility issues, Sandy maintained her beautiful lawn at her Lake Norman home. In addition, she was a long-time employee of Maintenance Supply Company in Huntersville, N.C.
The family will receive friends Saturday, February 12th at 10:00am at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 19600 Zion Avenue, Cornelius, N.C., 28031 with funeral services to follow at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to her church.
