Irwin Harvey Northmore's Obituary
Irwin Robert Harvey Northmore, devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, age 78 of Cornelius passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018.
Born on January 2, 1940 in Winnipeg, Canada to the late Harvey and Margaret Northmore, Irwin lived in various cities across Canada with his wife, Victoria, and his two children before settling down in Cornelius for the last twenty-six years.
Affectionately known to his grandchildren as “Papa,” Irwin was a profound believer in celebrating life and all it had to offer him and those he loved. No one who knew him could deny his infectious sense of humor or his inclination to put others before himself. His strong work ethic and love live on in those he left behind, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In his final hours, Irwin was surrounded by family before going peacefully with the sounds of his grandchildren singing to him.
He is survived by his son, Sean Northmore and wife Lisa of Huntersville; daughter, Allison Northmore of Winnipeg, Canada; sister, Martha Joyal and husband Harvey of Winnipeg, Canada; sister-in-law, Kerry Northmore of Calgary, Canada; niece, Susan Swan and husband Ken Jones; nephew, Jeff Joyal and wife Amanda of Winnipeg, Canada; nephew, Chris Joyal and wife Lynda of Winnipeg, Canada; and 6 grandchildren: Kyle, Atlee, Olivia, Mason, Ansley, and Serena.
Services will be private.
James Funeral Home of Huntersville is serving the family.
