Jack Knighten's Obituary
Jack Morgan Knighten, 95, of Huntersville died April 14, 2026. He was born in Asheville, NC on December 12, 1930 to the late Charles and Frances Candler Knighten. After graduation from Lee H. Edwards High School he received a B.S. Education from Western Carolina University and a M.S. Education from N.C. State University.
Jack retired from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System after 33 years as an industrial arts teacher, coach and principal. He was a lifelong hunter and fisherman, who continued to love woodworking after his retirement. He and his wife Betty enjoyed clogging which kept them young for many years. Jack was the founder and director of the award-winning Firehouse Cloggers.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann; and his two sisters. He is survived by his daughter Rebecca Hollingsworth (Joe) of Cornelius, NC, and his son Jack Douglas Knighten (Carroll) of Charlotte, NC; his grandchildren Marshall Hollingsworth (Jessica), Anna Brown, Drew Knighten (CJ) and Susan Cotney (Trey); and his great-grandchildren Lula Hollingsworth, Mac Brown, Jackson, Hunter, and Austin Knighten, and Charlie Cotney.

A visitation will be held from 3-5 PM Sunday, April 19 at James Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Asheville, NC.
