Jack Michael's Obituary
John Jacob “Jack” Michael, Sr., 81, of Charlotte, died March 2, 2011 at Levine Dickson Hospice House following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on July 8, 1929 in Lincoln County to the late Jacob and Lucille Michael. He was the oldest of 8 children. Jack served in the US Army during the Korean War. Jack graduated from Kings Business College and had a long career as a cost accountant. He was also a beloved scoutmaster for over 20 years and very involved in various aspects of church life, serving as both treasurer and trustee. Born on a farm, Jack continued his love of gardening throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife Joan; son, John “Jay” Michael, Jr. and wife Pamela of Charlotte; granddaughters, Elizabeth Hagans and husband Scotty and Lindsay Sexton; great-grandchildren, Jordan and Joceyln Hagans; brothers, Charles and wife Barbara, Kenneth and wife Donna, Hugh and wife Ladonna; sisters, Shirley Hartley, Mable Richardson and husband Charles, Charlotte Reynolds and husband Tim; 14 nieces and nephews; and Aunt Edith Lemmond and husband A.J. He is preceded in death by parents Jacob and Lucille and brother James “Jim” Michael.
Burial will be held at 10 AM Friday, March 4, 2011 at Asbury United Methodist in Lincolnton. A memorial service will be held at 1 PM Friday at Christ United Methodist with Rev. Jim Humphries officiating. Visitation will follow the service.
