James "Jim" Bennett's Obituary
James “Jim” Albert Bennett, Sr., age 82, of Huntersville, died on Monday, October 1, 2018. He was the son of the late, Walter and Loy DeVault Bennett and the husband of more than 56 years, to Judith Neal Bennett.
Jim was born in Mitchell County and after high school he joined the United States Army. He was employed as a Truck Driver and retired in 2003. He worked for Johnson Motor Lines, Thurston Motor Lines and retired as an owner operator. After retirement he enjoyed mission work for Mountain Marketplace Mission in West Virginia. He attended First Baptist Church in Huntersville.
In addition to his wife, Judy, Jim is survived by his son, James A. Bennett, II, (Suzie) of Huntersville, his daughter, Angi B. Kornhauser of Boone, three granddaughters, Brittney Bennett, Gaylin Bennett both of Huntersville and Megan Holtkamp (Zach) of Goose Creek, SC, and his beloved dog Daisy. He is also survived by a large extended family.
A Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, October 4, at Northlake Memorial Gardens, 11001 Alexanderana Road, Huntersville. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery and their home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Marketplace Mission, Inc., 95 Gauley River Rd, Webster Springs, WV 26288-9511.
