James Banks' Obituary
James Ray Banks, 78, of Cornelius, passed away November 21, 2016 at Novant-Presbyterian Hospice. He was the husband of Lynda Castleberry Banks. They shared 57 years in marriage together. Born in Marion, NC, he was the son of Jack and Leona Banks. He graduated Marion High School and was employed with Delta Airlines, from which he retired after 33 years. He was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed boating with his family as well as riding on the Blue Ridge Parkway and having picnics.
He is survived by his wife Lynda; daughter, Phyllis Banks McGuire and husband Michael; 2 granddaughters, Samantha and Katelyn McGuire; brother, David Keith Banks; sister, Frances Banks Shropshire and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Leona Banks; sisters, Margaret Banks Gouge and Carolyn Banks Wilson.
The interment will be private at Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The memorial service will be held at 1:00 Friday, November 25 at Bethel Presbyterian Church. Visitation will follow in the family life center.
