James Edward Brannon's Obituary
James Edward Brannon, 55, of Huntersville passed away unexpectedly January 8, 2019. He was born on April 25, 1963 in Mecklenburg County to Bill Brannon and the late Silvadean Brannon. Jim grew up in Davidson and graduated from North Mecklenburg High School in 1981 and Appalachian State in 1984.
Jim had a passion for life and loved all-things sports - particularly football. In the 1990s he formed and coached a minor league football team, The Storm, which brought him much joy and forged numerous friendships. His greatest joy, however, came from his family - his wife Lucy and his daughters Blair and Jessica. Jim was a doting father and took tremendous pride in cheering on his daughters in all their sports endeavors. He also took great joy in the holidays and in turning the Brannon home into a festive place for Christmas.
For the last 25 years he worked at Raycom Sports and loved his coworkers and clients. Jim's robust laugh, wit and wonderful bear hugs will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Lucy; daughters, Blair Brannon of Wilmington and Jessica Brannon of Huntersville; father Bill Brannon of Davidson, sister Donna Patterson and husband Larry of Mooresville. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Silvadean Brannon.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Sunday, January 13, at Davidson United Methodist Church. He will lie in state from 1:30-2 PM in the sanctuary with visitation to follow at the church fellowship hall.
Memorial may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, in memory of his mother. alzfdn.org
