James Childers' Obituary
James Childers, 78, of Huntersville, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2022.
James was a native of Wilkes County, NC and moved to Huntersville where he raised his family. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Davidson and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He worked as a diesel mechanic for Yellow Freight from which he retired. He loved to fish, camp with his family, and restore classic cars. James was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Ozzie Childers, sister, Mary Tadlock of Boone, NC and son, Travis Allen Childers.
Mr. Childers is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara; their children Bryan Childers (Crystal) of Mt. Ulla, Marshall Childers (Amy) of Stourbridge, United Kingdom, and Stacy (April) of Mt. Ulla; grandchildren Kelsey, Cilena, Cole, Dylan, Chloe, Ezra, Eliza, and Esther; great granddaughter Blakelynn; and sister, Chirstene Gilstrap (William).
Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 23 immediately followed by the funeral services at 2:00 PM at Hopewell Baptist Church in Davidson, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Angels of '97 Memorial Scholarship Organization which was formed to honor their son Travis and four other students of the class of 1997 who died before their high school graduation.
