James "Sam" Foy's Obituary
Mr. James Ren (Sam) Foy Jr., 83, of Salisbury, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2023 surrounded by his family.
Sam was born on October 28, 1939 in Mecklenburg County to James Foy Sr. and Bethel White and graduated from North Mecklenburg High school before enlisting in the United States Army where he served and received an honorable discharge on March 27, 1967. During his military career, Sam received certification for completing the jumpmaster course of the 6th Special Forces group along with receiving certification for the 82nd Airborne Division. Sam was also a dedicated member to the Eureka Lodge No. 283 of China Grove, NC, where he received a service award for completing 25 years as a Master Mason. Sam Foy was a simple man who led a wonderful life full of loved ones and fond memories. He enjoyed life’s simpler pleasures and indulged in the joy of working on trucks and riding motorcycles. In addition to his parents’, Sam was preceded in death by his son, James Ren (Jamie) Foy III.
Sam is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Betty Foy; two children, Richard (Ricky) Foy and Jennifer Foy; grandchildren, Jarren Foy and wife Autumn and Austin Foy.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 20 at James Funeral Home of Huntersville. The family will receive friends and family from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
