Mr. James Edward Hansley, 92, of Huntersville NC, went to be with the Lord on, Tuesday, March 26, 2024. Jim was a native of Folkestone NC before moving to Charlotte NC where he raised his family. Upon marrying his present wife Barbara, they moved to Huntersville NC, where he resided until his death.
Jim was an active member of Eastway Drive Church of God for 35 years. While there he served as an usher and a councilman in which he took great pride in doing. Jim was a faithful servant for The Lord and enjoyed every opportunity to serve.
Jim enlisted in the army at an early age. He took great pride in serving his country and attained the rank of sergeant while serving as a mechanic. He served on the front lines in the Korean War. Jim was very proud to be a veteran and he enjoyed telling many stories of his time in the service.
Upon his discharge from the army, he worked on the base of Camp Lejeune. After leaving the base, he became a Greyhound bus driver where he remained until he became a truck driver for McLean Trucking where he retired with a 34-year safe driving record. After retirement he worked part-time for Piedmont Bus Lines and Peterbuilt.
Some of Jim’s most enjoyable times were those laying on the couch listening to old recordings of southern gospel music. Going to church services and events with his wife, Barbara. They also enjoyed traveling to gospel concerts where they could spend time together in The Lord singing and worshipping! Jim loved the coast where he spent much time on his boats, while fishing, shrimping and digging for clams and oysters - anything to do with the water he enjoyed!
Jim was a very loving, caring, serving and compassionate husband. Who provided well for his family through the years. Not only was he a wonderful husband but also a wonderful, supportive and praying father and pawpaw. He loved spending quality time with his family. And always made it a priority to be there for his family and friends!
