James Olin Hathcock's Obituary
James Olin Hathcock, age 94, went to his heavenly home on Monday, April 22, 2019, in Huntersville, NC. The son of the late Adam Alexander Hathcock and Cora Justine Smith Hathcock, he was born in Cabarrus County. Olin was one of twelve children, all of whom preceded him in death. He was married to the late Edna Lee Tilley Hathcock who preceded him in death in June 2017.
Olin loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; he loved Edna, his wife for 68 years; and he loved his family. Olin took every opportunity to share the good news of Jesus Christ with others through his writing of books and poems. Olin proudly served his country as a World War II veteran of the Army Air Force. He worked for Cannon Mills, The Concord Tribune, and retired from Mineral Research and Development.
He is survived by three sons; Phillip Wayne Hathcock and his wife, Reena of Davidson, Paul Thomas Hathcock and his wife, Deborah of Burnsville, and Douglas Olin Hathcock and his wife, Connie of Mobile, AL, and five grandchildren; Lauren, Daniel, Jameson, Andrea and Stephen.
We love you and will miss you but praise be to God our Heavenly Father and our Lord Jesus Christ we will spend eternity together in Heaven.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Olde Knox Commons, Hospice of Lake Norman and Ransom Ridge for their dedication, care, support and friendship.
A graveside service will be held at 3:30 pm. Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at Carolina Memorial Park, 601 Mt. Olivet Road, Kannapolis, NC 28083 with Reverend Landon Horton officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Neighborhood Church, 12625 Kemerton Lane, Huntersville, NC 28078 or to Hospice of Lake Norman, 705 Griffith Street, Suite 203, Davidson, NC 28036.
