James E. O'Keeffe's Obituary
James Edward O’Keeffe, 28, passed away Monday, December 18, surrounded by love and compassion.
James embodied strength, sensitivity, and unwavering loyalty. He was a man of few words, choosing to speak when he had something meaningful to share, always leaving those around him touched by his wit, honesty, and love.
He faithfully looked out for his little brother, Kirt. James was someone people could trust and confide in, and those traits are what led to such strong bonds within his close circle of friends.
James was an avid sports enthusiast. He played football throughout his life and was a pivotal part in leading the East Lincoln Mustangs to a state championship win in 2012. His heart beat for the Ohio State Buckeyes, but he meticulously kept track of stats for players across all teams. He loved attending games in person to see his favorite players in action.
James had a heart that effortlessly connected with children and animals alike. Between playing with cousins and their kids, his first companion, Captain, or his beloved Boston Terrier, Max, James radiated kindness and affection.
James is leaving behind a legacy of love. He is survived by his parents Teresa and Harold O’Keeffe, his brother, Kirtley, his grandmother Carol Sue, his Godparents John and Angelique, his Uncle Dennis, his Aunt Barb, his Uncle Mike (Rhonda), Aunt Coleen (Andy), Uncle Brian (Natalie), Uncle Jerome (Cindy), Aunt Elizabeth, Aunt Denise (Mike), and Aunt Krista (Todd). James is also survived by 15 cousins who he adored and friends Steve Moody, Justice Alwran, Austin Josie, Travis Barrage, Bryce Moody, Jeffrey Curtis and Brenden Curtis, who he considered brothers. James is also survived by his loving dog, Max.
James was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Phoebe Roberts O’Keeffe and Edward Raymond O’Keeffe, his maternal grandfather Dennis Boyd Rankin, and cousins Kevin Wallace Karle and Eric John Lee O’Keeffe.
