James Ozias Ropp, 70, of Cornelius, NC, died Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Levine-Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC after a long and courageous battle with brain cancer.
He was born in Bloomington, IL, the son of the late Cornelius Ropp and was raised in Gibson City, IL. He was a teacher at East Leyden High School in Franklin Park, IL for 33 years until he retired to Friendsville, TN.
Survivors include his wife, Harolyn Treadwell Ropp of Cornelius, NC; a daughter, Christina Dowell and husband Robert of Mebane, NC; a son, Douglas Ropp of Charlotte; his mother, Lidabelle Dever Ropp of Maryville, TN; a sister, Cornelia Cramer of Gibson City, IL; and two grandchildren, Kayla and Annabelle Dowell. He was preceded in death by a sister Celia Ropp.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at 11:00 AM, at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery in Cornelius.
