James Page's Obituary
James Hay (Jim) Page died on August 4, 2014. He was born April 17, 1924 to the former Frances Brokenborough Hay and Randolph Gilham Page. Formerly of Beckley, WV, Page moved to Concord, North Carolina in 2003 where he shared 12 wonderful years with special friend Jo Moore. At the time of his death he was a member of Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, NC and supported the West Cabarrus YMCA.
A World War II veteran, Page served in the Pacific Theater as a Marine, including the landing on Iwo Jima. He received a Commendation for his military service. Following the war, he graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in mining engineering. During a career spanning almost 40 years, Page was affiliated with the coal industry in West Virginia and Kentucky.
He and the former Mary Lucile Graham, now deceased, were married for 54 years. He is survived by his brother, William Nelson Page of Marietta, OH, and four daughters: Ellen Shelton (Rayford) of Ft. Worth, TX; Lucile Graham (Tom) of Sopchoppy, FL; Jane Watson (Gene) of Richmond, VA; and Sarah Pritzlaff of Baltimore, MD; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his special friend Jo Moore and her family (David Moore, Susan, Warren and Nick Baine). Memorial services will be held at Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2014, and at a later date in Beckley, WV. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church, Beckley Presbyterian Church, West Cabarrus YMCA or Beckley YMCA.
