Ed Thornton's Obituary
James Edward (Ed) Thornton, 57, of Huntersville, NC passed away on June 10, 2024 after a year and half battle with cancer.
Ed was born in Wheat Ridge, Co on July 25,1966 and was raised in Charlotte, NC. He graduated from South Mecklenburg High School, earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a minor in mathematics from NC State University, and earned a master’s degree in controls engineering from Columbia University.
Ed was married to Camille Brown Thornton for 35 years with whom he had two sons. Ed worked for Technical Development Corporation as an electrical engineer for 30 years. Ed enjoyed puzzle games, Wolfpack sports, Braves baseball, and Talking Heads. He loved spending time with his family: watching and quoting shows, playing games, and cruising the world.
Ed is preceded in death by his father Robert Erman Thornton and his son Thomas Edward Thornton. He is survived by his wife Camille, his son Samuel (Sam) Robert Thornton, his mother Susan Fisher Thornton, his sister Michelle (Shelley) Lynn Thornton and extended family.
A celebration of his life will be announced in the coming months.
