James "Jim" Werner's Obituary
James “Jim” Leon Werner of Charlotte NC passed away on January 26, 2021 at the age of 81. He was born on March 5, 1939 in Van Horne, Iowa to Leon and Helen Klausia Werner. Jim graduated from Coe College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa and then entered the physical therapy program at the University of Iowa. Upon completion, he served in the U.S. Public Health Service for six years and then went into private practice where he helped many patients over a long career. In his leisure time, Jim enjoyed golf, fishing and sports.
Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years, Connie Kappmeyer; his daughter Lisa Salaway (Jeff) of Cornelius NC; his granddaughter Haley Burleigh (Brett) of Huntersville NC; his grandson Brandon Salaway of Nashville TN; his great-grandson Jack Burleigh; his brother David Werner of Van Horne IA; his sister Janis Werner of Brookfield, WI and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Jim was predeceased in death by his parents and his brother William of Houston TX.
A private memorial with immediate family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers or memorials, family and friends are asked to take a moment to remember shared good times.
