James Earnest Woolley Jr.'s Obituary
James E. Woolley Jr., 79, passed away on March 26, 2026.
Born to the late James E. Woolley and Vivian Helen Woolley, Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Patricia R. Woolley, and his sister, Patricia Burton Chene.
Jim proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Alaska for a time. He played baseball for an Air Force travel team; a reflection of his lifelong love of sports.
A graduate of Piedmont Baptist College, Jim worked as an accountant for Mecklenburg County, N.C., until his retirement.
Outside of his professional life, Jim had a particular love for baseball and golf, and he was a devoted fan of the Atlanta Braves.
He also was proud of his Scottish heritage and often would wear traditional clothing at annual meetings and celebrations.
A private graveside service will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 8600 Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road, Huntersville, N.C.
