Janet Knox's Obituary
Janet Howard Knox, 95, of Cornelius, NC died March 17, 2020. She was born August 19, 1924 in Mecklenburg County to the late Thomas Preston and Gladys Odell Howard.
Janet was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an active member of Bethel Presbyterian Church where she had served as President of the Women of the Church, Women’s Circle Chair, cooked for Youth club and was a long-time member of the “Hub Knox” Sunday School class. She enjoyed traveling with her late husband to his army reunions, spending vacations with her family, and taking trips with her friends. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed hosting family and friends.
Janet graduated from Pfeiffer College. She had worked for the Charlotte Observer and also worked for REA (Crescent Electric, Electric Cities).
Janet is survived by her son, Herbert Brice Knox, Jr. (Buster) and wife, Mandy; daughter, Karen Beard and husband, David; grandchildren, Matt Beard (wife, Amber), Kelly West (husband, Chad) and Scott Lipe (wife, Isabel); great grandchildren, Emma Grace and Kenzie Beard, Brice and Kori West. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Herbert Brice Knox; sister, Betty Goodson; brothers, Asbury Howard (Ab), Willis Howard (Bid), Herman Howard (Humpy), and a very special cousin, Hilda Mayes, who was like a sister.
A private family graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 18 at Bethel Presbyterian Church in Cornelius, NC 28031.
Thanks to the many wonderful caregivers that have lovingly supported our mom over the past few years, both at her home and Autumn Care. Thanks also to those who have prayed, visited and sent cards to Mom. You have all been a blessing to our family.
