Janice Sanford's Obituary
Mrs. Janice Sanford, 75, of Charlotte NC passed away Monday, March 21, 2022 peacefully with her family by her side at the Levine & Dickenson Hospice House - Huntersville.
Jan was a native of Chicago, and spent many years raising her children in Kansas City, MO before retiring in Charlotte, to be closer to her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and participated in W.I.N.E. Club and Events committee. Jan enjoyed traveling in Europe with her husband Homer, spending time with her dogs and most of all, being part of her grandchildren’s lives. Jan loved her job at North Kansas City Parks and Recreation, where she worked for 28 years. She established award winning activities for seniors and directed all sports and recreation activities. Jan had a passion for helping senior citizens.
Jan is preceded in death by her parents, Gus and Bernice Wanka, sister, Annette Wanka, brother, Gus Wanka, son, David Sanford, and dog, Blue.
Jan is survived by her husband of 52 years, Homer Sanford, their daughter, Kim Jansson (Dexter), grandchildren; Kenley, Kyla and Davidson (Chase) Jansson, and her dog, Charlie.
Funeral Services will be held at 4:00pm Friday April 8th at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 8600 Mt. Holly-Huntersville Rd., Huntersville NC 28078. Reception to follow after the church services.
