Javier Buch's Obituary
Cornelius, NC— Javier Buch went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
The youngest of five children, Javier was born in Santiago de Cuba on November 19, 1960. He and his family fled the Cuban communist regime and came to their beloved United States in August 1961 when he was only nine months old. Javier grew up in Amityville, Long Island and received his bachelor’s degree in music performance, then received advanced training in computer science. He married his high school sweetheart, Beth, at age 22 and they had two wonderful daughters together. He went on to work in IT for 27 years as a Systems Engineer and started an IT consulting and training business with his close friend and business partner. As a professional level guitarist, Javier led worship teams at two Long Island churches, wrote music, and went on to start a band called Soul Progression. He was a passionate lifelong learner and loved to read about history, advances in technology, AI, mystery novels, and biographies.
Javier was a fervent Mets and Jets fan, though he rooted for the Panthers after moving to NC. He had an active prayer life and was a member of many Bible studies, sometimes serving as a mentor or teacher. He was always ready for an excellent meal! Javier was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson’s disease at age 47 and lived with the disease for eighteen years. Javier and Beth moved to Cornelius, NC in 2011. He was an active member of Rock Steady Boxing at Huntersville Family Fitness & Aquatics (HFFA) and a partner at Grace Covenant Church in Cornelius, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben A. and Matilde Ribas Buch; brother Ruben Buch; sister Matty Buch; and stillborn son Brian Edward Buch.
