Jean Pilkenton Davis
August 7, 1934 – July 8, 2022
Jean Pilkenton Davis, 87, of Davidson, died at the The Pines at Davidson on July 8, 2022. Born in Lenior, NC she was the daughter of the late James Clifford Pilkenton and Atha Livingston Pilkenton. She was predeceased by her faithful and loving husband of 53 years, F. Eugene Davis. She was also predeceased by her brother, Jim B. Pilkenton of Oak Island, NC. Jean graduated from Appalachian State University with BA and MA degrees. She enjoyed teaching in elementary schools in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools for 33 years. She retired from Huntersville Elementary School in 1990. Jean was a member of the International Society for Women Educators, Alpha Zeta Chapter from 1974 until her death.
Jean was a long-time member of Huntersville First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and served for many years at Church Media Librarian. Jean is survived by her beloved son, Jon Pilkenton Davis and wife Gennine Butler Davis and two wonderful grandchildren, Jon (Jack) Butler Davis and Sally Maxwell Davis who were blessings and the joy of her life.
Other survivors include a wonderful sister, Marcy Reid and numerous nephews and nieces who were very special to her. Jean’s family, church, friends and all of God’s gifts of Nature made for times of praise and thanksgiving. A special blessing was keeping up with friends and family with letters and cards of encouragement through the years.
The family will receive friends at Huntersville First Baptist Church at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 16, 2022. A celebration service will follow at 2:00 pm at the Church, with burial immediately following.
