Jean Ebert Newman's Obituary
Jean C. Newman, of Huntersville, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, September 13, just shy of her 96th birthday.
A longtime resident of Huntersville, she was born in Iowa and lived much of her adult life in Illinois before moving to North Carolina. She is survived by her two daughters, Laveeta Harmon (Jack Harmon) and Jill Hess (Todd Hess) both of Cornelius; 3 granddaughters Courtney Conlon (Ryan Conlon), Amanda Baer (Levi Baer), Madison Hess and Lee Newman Williams; 3 step granddaughters, Lindsay Harmon, Sara Beam and Amy Sloop; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Stephen Newman.
She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Cornelius and an all-around spiritual being. She loved animals, especially her dog, Doey and the hummingbirds who frequented her bird feeders in her backyard. She also enjoyed working in her pristine garden and was a passionate Skip-Bo player. She loved spending her days painting pottery, completing word searches, and doing jigsaw puzzles, all of which she mastered. She was kind-hearted, giving, strong, and stubborn (in the best way).
A Celebration of Life in honor of Jean will be held on Friday, September 30th at 1:00 pm at James Funeral Home in Huntersville.
