Jean Wolfe's Obituary
Jean Penninger Wolfe, 81, of Huntersville, died on May 13, 2018. After a valiant fight, she succumbed to a debilitating stroke. Born on April 13, 1937, she was a Charlotte native and a graduate of the North Mecklenburg class of 1955.
Over the course of her life, she had a variety of work experiences – with Biltmore Dairy Farms, Central Motor Lines, Bowman Motor Lines and Food Lion – in addition to many years as a CNA and as an independent caregiver for her parents and others.
A member of First Baptist Church, Jean was a faithful devotee of Sunday school and Bible study, a woman who loved God and her church family.
Jean radiated love, kindness and joy and, as a result, was a person who truly “never met a stranger.”
From simple pleasures like trips to the mountains for fresh produce to selling pecans to raise funds for her church to playing cards with friends, she enjoyed a full life enriched by deep faith and loyal friendships. Feisty, with a keen sense of humor, she liked to be engaged and busy. She loved to travel and was an active participant in the OWLS exercise group, the Jolly Travelers, the Senior Center and the Huntersville Hardee’s bunch.
Predeceased by her parents, Bill & Marjorie Penninger, siblings, Hope Crepps & Billy Penninger, and longtime, companion Earl Berry, she is survived by her nieces and nephews, Dale Crepps (Kathy), Marilyn McGrady (son Josh), Beverly Penninger (Alyson) & Mark Penninger (Teresa), precious grandniece Bailey and beloved grandnephew/godson Weston.
The family extends appreciation and gratitude to her wonderful caregivers Melody, Renee and Robin along with the compassionate staff members of Ranson Ridge and Olde Knox Commons.
Her final resting place will be at Sharon Memorial Park, alongside her parents. A service in her honor will be held at James Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC on Friday, May 18 at 11am. The family will receive friends in the Community Room of James Funeral Home from 10-11 prior. Please join the family and enjoy her favorite, a Hardees biscuit!
In lieu of flowers, she asked that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 119 N. Old Statesville Rd., Huntersville, NC 28078.
