Jeanette Shoemaker's Obituary
Ila Jeanette Collins Shoemaker, 97, of Huntersville, passed away peacefully on April 16th. Born on March 10, 1925, Jeanette was the daughter of James Theodore and Lottie Culp Collins.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Johnnie Franklin Shoemaker, and her siblings: Fred Collins, Curt Collins, Lillian Collins and Vaudie Walters.
Although born in Mooresville, Jeanette lived most of her life in the Ramah community. She graduated from Cornelius High School, and was with PPG- Chemical Division for over 25 years. Enjoying her retirement, she indulged in her favorite activity, bridge. She was an avid player and enjoyed playing with many groups and partners over the years.
Jeanette had a deep faith and was devoted to her church, Ramah Presbyterian. There she was Sunday School teacher, Deacon, Women of the Church leader and one of the first female Elders elected to serve there.
She is survived by her daughter Dawn Bradford, and son-in-law Bill Bradford.
On Monday, April 25th, there will be a memorial service at Ramah Presbyterian Church, 14401 Ramah Church Road, Huntersville, NC 28078, followed by a reception in the fellowship hall. Pastor Bill Watkins will officiate, along with Pastor Brandon McKoy, her great-great-nephew.
The family request in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Ramah Presbyterian Church or Hospice and Palliative care of Lake Norman.
