Jeanne Elsasser's Obituary
Jeanne Elsasser, 62, of Huntersville passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Friday, May 19, 2017. Jeanne fought a long and courageous battle with breast cancer that began in 1999.
Jeanne was originally from Harbor Beach, Michigan, moving to North Carolina for retirement. The youngest of eight, she was born to Dennis and Dorothy White on July 2, 1954. Prior to retirement, she worked for Kroger in Atlanta, GA for 10 years and Piggly Wiggly in Belvidere, IL for nearly 20 years. Jeanne was a member of multiple Breast Cancer support groups, and her fight and positive attitude were an inspiration to all. Jeanne was affectionately known as “Gigi” to her grandchildren, whom she shared with her former spouse, Bill Elsasser. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy, and in retirement, Jeanne enjoyed a more active role in their lives. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Dorothy White.
Jeanne is survived by her children, Nicolle Thompson (Ron) of Huntersville, NC and Shaun Peevsasser (Amanda) of Owasso, OK; grandchildren, Laurel and Grant Thompson, and Thomas Peevsasser; former husband, Bill Elsasser of Belvidere, IL; sisters, Jackie (John) Jonseck of Greenwood, MI, Kathy (Joe) McQueen of Pickens, SC, Bev (Rick) Bohlman of South Elgin, IL; and brothers, Doug White of Harbor Beach, MI, Bob (Patti) White of Harbor Beach, MI, Pat (Karen) White of Harbor Beach, MI and Gary White of Harbor Beach, MI, and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 2pm, Tuesday, May 23 at James Funeral Home of Huntersville. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 1pm. A reception celebrating Jeanne will be held immediately following the service at James Funeral Home Community Room.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the donor’s favorite charity.
