Jennifer Nooney's Obituary
Dr. Jennifer Nooney of Rogue Hen Farm, Statesville, NC, passed away at her home after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer. Jennifer was a graduate of Currituck County Schools and Elizabeth City State University. She received her master’s and doctorate degrees from North Carolina State University. Following her years of education, Jennifer had a well-respected career as an adjunct professor at NCSU, and then as a statistical researcher with the North Carolina Center for Nursing, the Florida Center for Nursing, the Health Resources and Services Administration, and Westat, Inc. Along the way, Jennifer made many treasured friends.
Jennifer had a tender and compassionate soul. But at the same time, she believed in truth and honesty. She met life’s challenges head on and with a realistic eye. You rarely had to guess at what she was thinking…because she had probably already told you. Like her mother, Jennifer loved all creatures, great and small.
Jennifer was preceded in death by her mother, Peggy Green. She is survived by her husband, William Nooney, Jr.; her father, Buck Green; her mother- and father-in-law, Bill and Marilyn Nooney; her brothers-in-law, Daniel Nooney and Jesse Nooney; her aunts and uncles, Steve and Lisa Green, Scott and Sherri Brown, and Brian and Sharon Fisher; as well as many fun-loving cousins. She will be missed by her entire family.
There will be two gatherings to honor Jennifer’s life. On Saturday, September 27th, beginning at 2:00 PM, friends and family will gather at Rogue Hen Farm for a Celebration of Jennifer. There will be food, music, memories, sharing, and laughter. The address for Rogue Hen Farm is 169 Absher Farm Loop, Statesville, NC 28625. Then, on Sunday, September 28th, at 2:00 PM, a memorial service and reception will be held in the family life center at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 1915 Oakdale Road, Charlotte, NC 28216. Everyone who knew and loved Jennifer and her family are invited to attend either or both of these gatherings. If you think you might like to be in attendance at the gathering at The Farm, you are asked to let the church office know by calling 704.392.2387.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. You may also contribute online by visiting their website.
